Weekly Agenda - Fall 2017 Semester


     The importance of GRAPES in studying USA History & in College Prep/Elective
      Must have a Heading – First and Last Name, Period #, and Date
      Always use Cursive Writing (except for Posters)
      Expectation in Writing
          do a through job, using complex sentence and deep meanings to the questions.  (Answer the how, who, what, where, why, and when)
          Claim ~ Reason correct, quote and why the reason proves the claim.
      ALL students are encouraged to turn in their assignments on time, for full credit.  If there is an issue – they may turn in work late and receive a “C or D” (depending on the quality and completeness of the work) 

**  MY GOAL FOR ALL MY STUDENTS IS TO EARN AN A IN MY CLASS.

Assignments:

US History:

*    Finish the Chapter 2 ~ Group Project ~ CUB+ (key notes for the Chapter), Draw and color a Picture (Representing the Main Idea and Key Message from the Chapter), Create a Poem (Representing the Key Message and Main Idea, Rhyming – 2 5 line Stanzas), and if 4 people a Biography of the key person in the Settlement – use the form or write out the information).
*    Complete Chapter 3 ~ Independent work ~
o   Notes (Handouts,
o   CUBS+
o   The workbook sheets ‘on-line’
o   Partner Project
o   BrainPop 
        ~ Thirteen Colonies ~ watch the movie,
        ~ take the quiz  – must have at least 80% to count),
        ~ complete Make-A-Map

  o   The colonial Map complete with naming each colony and color the regions
 o   Organize the web of the colonies ~ explain the meaning and purpose of this
             handout.  What information is important? 
 o   Partner Project ~
  ✥  Complete the handouts describing your colony (answer these questions)
·                Did they have slave labor? Why was slavery introduced into the colony (if used)
·               What did education look like in the colony?  Was it different for boys and girls?
·               What crops were grown in the colony?  Describe the climate, land, soil, land size, natural resources, etc …
·              What were the qualifications to vote in the colony?
·              What was the colony known for?  What were they experts in? (the poem is about this)

·           Explain how geography can affect the economy or way
·            What do you think the living conditions would be like in this colony/town
·           What would be the major economic activity of the people living in this colony
·          What do you think a mercantile store is like?
      ·          How do ideas about human rights, the rights of the individuals and the    
            rights

 ✾  EXTRA CREDIT ~ Answer this question ~ use evidence (prove your point of view) Who settled in the colonies and what dictated their settlement pattern?  explain your answer
